Pizza Man!

We had DiGiorno pizza the other night, and while the boys are "Cheese only" men sometimes I like some veggies. Veggies, not faces. I was serving up dinner, when I looked down at my plate and was disturbed to see Pizza Man staring up at me with an innocent smile. It really creeped me out. He had olives for eyes, a wedge of pepperoni for a nose, and 2 red bell peppers for lips. He even has a green and a red bell pepper eye brows. I did not make this pizza, I did not move the toppings around, I was just cuttin' and servin' and suddenly was looking at this. My first thought was - hey, I wonder if I could sell this on Ebay! But then he smelled so good... yeah, I ate him. But I felt a little guilty.

Cub Scouts

Last night when Mike got home with Squish from Cubs I started thinking about all the things we do every day, that really don't get recorded. So, in that direction, I wanted to show off two of my scouters. I appreciate that Mike is such a dedicated dad that he attends Mr. W's and Squish's weekly scout meetings with them. While it cuts into the time he could be doing other things, they love to have him there. Thanks Mike, I love how much you love our kids!

Do you ever come across something ya gotta share?

Tonight I found 2 sites that I've just gotta give a shout out to. They have no socially redeeming value except that they made me laugh or shake my head at the way somethings turn out. Do not go to them if you want to learn something or walk away from them feeling like a better person. One is Failblog.org
where you can see less successful side of humanity and
http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/
where they have hilarious cakes that .....just didn't turn out quite right. For example, try this link....http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2008/07/inspiration-vs-perspiration.html
I was going to post the photos, but it'll take to long and I think you'll love the site. Anyway, I just had to share. (What does it say about me that I stumbled onto 2 different site about bloopers and that I loved them so much I'm writing about them? The cake wrecks site was just so fun to laugh at - I really did have tears in my eyes after a while!) Hope you like 'em!

Boys Are Funny

Yesterday we found out that one of Mr. W's school friends was in the hospital, so we ran over to Target to pick something out for "Q" that Mr. W could take him. His teacher suggested Bionicles and since I was thinking along the Lego road anyway, I was only to happy to go grab something he would like. I saw this set and thought - "Whoa, he's scary, but icy looking.....too cool!" and I went to grab it, then noticing that they also had smaller sets that were about half the size, but that we could get 2 Bionicles for about the same price. My thinking is (In the girl world) the bigger (doll) toy is cooler because it can do more and would look neater sitting on the hospital shelf/lap table. I asked Squish "What's cooler, 2 small Bionicles or 1 big one?" As I reached for the larger bionicle, anticipating his answer. Sweetly, I heard his small voice say "Well, if you had two they could fight." Oh. Yeah, that would be a deciding factor. I love how boys are so very different from girls!! Of course, based on that recomendation, we bought the 2 small ones. What else could I do? You wouldn't want lonely Bionicles!

3 Day Staycation

I love 3 day weekends. Wow. A whole extra day home. We were going to go out of town, and then realized that home was the place to be. We've been going and going and it was really nice to just stay home yesterday, goof off, and "be." We played video games, I re-read the 2nd Twilight series book, we napped, did some domestic stuff, Squish played his new favorite game "Club Penguin" with a dear friend from Utah over the phone, and then we all went out to Red Robin for dinner. It was fun because well, we love Red Robin. But while we were waiting to order some friends of ours came in and were seated next to us. Then later another family we knew from Squish's school came in. It was very small town-ish feeling. We walked around the mall after dinner, and Mr. W got a Indiana Jones calendar for half price. He's so excited! He wears Mike's Indy hat all the time, despite the fact that he has his own. I think he knows that Mike's is more authentic so that's the one he prefers. After dinner the boys set up a tent in our front bedroom and they "camped" with a small dvd player in the tent and video games. At midnight I had to tell them to turn it off, I know, I'm no fun. But 9am church comes waaaay to early. I'm not sure what tomorrow will hold. Maybe a day out, maybe another day in. Either way, I am really looking forward to not doing the daily drive to the schools. Woo Hoo!

Mr Bubble

Yesterday 8 year old Squish and I were snuggled up in a chair and talking when he asked me how to blow a bubble with his gum.I explained what to do, and he gave it a shot. Wow! A bubble his first try! (He was so excited he clapped.) This is a shot of his 4th or so bubble. I think he was hoping if he could make the bubble big enough he would float around the room. It is so fun to experience the Mommy moments - I am so glad we have our wonderful kiddos!

January 12th

Where is the month going? All last month I marvelled that it was December already, and now we are in our second or third (depending on how you look at it) week of January! Time goes by so fast, no wonder I can't scrapbook it all!

Twilight

Have you read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer?
Oh, you don't read Vampire Romance novels? Yes, well, I didn't think that I would like them. In fact, they sounded really dumb. I felt the same way about the Harry Potter series. Then one day I saw my friend Linda reading Harry Potter and thought - hey, she's my Bishop's wife, if she's reading them they can't be as evil as everyone says they are. So, I decided to read them. Mike and I spent most of our last anniversary reading the last book in our hotel room. (or was that 2 years ago?) Anyway, Linda was reading Twilight, and I thought, well, I wasn't a really good judge of books when the Harry books came out, maybe I should try them. Then I had other friends suggest them. Then I got the first 2 for my birthday. Wow. I think I read all 4 books in about 5 days. The last 5 days of my kid's summer vacation. I didn't say I was a good Mom.... Anyway, since all of my posts tonight have had some kind of "I suggest" or "I recommend" type suggestion in them, here's this one. Twilight. Give it a try. Don't avoid it because someone else told you it was dumb, or because "everyone likes it" so you don't want to give it a shot. If you don't like it, then I apologize. But it is one of my current favorites. (PS: It's much cheaper at places like Sam's Club!!) The movie is okay, but read the book first. Please?

Aquarium of the Pacific

On Saturday, Jan 3rd we got to go with Bella, along with Grandma and Grandpa visiting from out of state, to the Aquarium of the Pacific.

We hadn't been there in a long time, and it was the Grandparents first time, as well as Bella's. So we looked at everything with "first timers eyes". We were there for hours, but we saw lots of jellyfish, seals, sharks, touched some baby sharks and bat rays, ate a delicious (if overpriced) lunch at Cafe Scuba, and Grandpa and I got po
oped on in the Lorikeet Forest. (sigh - again.) Bella, and Grandma were brave enough to feed the Lorikeets, and one even jumped on Bella's head. (I love that photo - you can see Squish in the background is completely shocked and excited by it.) While it was up there it tried to nibble on her barrett, then went off to find a nectar cup. The Leafy Sea Dragons are one of my favorite exhibits, the octopus is really neat, as well as watching Squish look for poison frogs in the frog exhibit.

There were many im
provements to the aquarium, if you haven't been in a while, you might want to check it out. It was decorated for Christmas, but I'm guessing it's all down now. Great Job Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific!

Happy Bithday Dad!

New Year's Day began like most, all of us a little tired, but ready to watch the Rose Parade. I don't think I've ever watched one all the way through. I've recorded the last 5 - 10 broadcasts, and every year about March I toss it, realizing that I'll never watch it. (And yet I record it every year...) This year, I recorded 2008, all the pre show stuff and the newest parade. Have I watched it? Well, let's just say that in March, if you have a hankering to watch the parade, let me know.

After the parade, we we
nt to Downtown Disney to see "The Tale of Desperaux." It was cute, and you gotta love hearing Hermione as the princess' voice. We took a family picture in front of a big tree that had in the area. I look like I have a Minnie Mouse bow in my hair. Nice huh? Yeah, One for the scrapbook. *grin* We briefly visited the Lego Store, then went to my folks place for Dad's birthday.

My dad is a new year's baby, and was written about in the paper the year he was born. Of course, in those days, they
gave out your address, when you were on vacation, and who was visiting who in the newspaper. What an interesting time that must have been.

Happy Birthday Dad, I love you!

Happy New 2009!

This year for New Year's Eve we had Mike's folks staying with us so we said goodbye to 2008 with a dinner with the missionaries (pizza, pasta, salad, and oddly I don't think we had jell-o. But we did have a big clock cake and a really good time.) After dinner we had a mini Christmas since Mike's folks had been visiting Mike's sister and her family. I got a foot rubbing device - should be great after the upcoming Scrapbook Expo! We rec'd some nice things from Mike's folks and from his sister's family. Thanks everyone! (The boys loved the glow sticks!!)

My photos are all in reverse order, I'm going to have to write myself a sticky note to remember to choose the first photo I want shown last. *sigh.* But, it's a fun photo anyway. The first one is a shot of some of the aftermath of our noise making, confetti popping, pan banging, and "HAPPY NEW YEAR" shouting at midnight, outside, in our front yard. Wow, it was a foggy night. (Which is why the photos are so spotted with the water from the air.)

What did we do after the pre
sents were opened, and everyone was fed? We watched Indiana Jones #1, and #2, and then right before the ball was re-dropped in Times Square we counted down. Then we ran outside and made lots of noise! Woo Hoo! Yes, we are party animals, and yes, we can organize events for you.

As an additional note, I ran into Sam's Club to buy something New Year's Eve day and while I was there I found a plastic cylinder that was filled with "poppers" - things that you pull and confetti or streamers pop out. It was $11 ish dollars, which seeme
d like a complete gouge for the poor parents that needed something at the last minute. I bought it, figuring I was saving myself some sanity points rather than going back to Walmart for more of the poppers they had sold there. (I'd already bought some, but I figured we needed more!) That tube of poppers was the coolest we have ever gotten. I would have bought 2 if I had known! So, (plug, plug) next year, if you are in the market, consider buying them. They had some big ones in there that were really cool. Who woulda thunk it?

I'd love to hear what you did for New Year's Eve!

Go Dodge!

Well, it's official! Our amazing Dodge reached 100,000 miles today, Jan 7th. Wow. I had just taken Mr. W to school when I realized that it had flipped. We sure are grateful to have such a good car. It's now about 9 years old, but we sure have had some great memories in it and we hope to have lots more. Thanks little van! (please don't die now!!!!)
